The Story of Celery Seed
From Flower to Future Harvest
There’s a quiet magic in the way a plant gives back to the land that raised it.
This season, we’re witnessing that cycle firsthand with one of the most unassuming — yet generous — plants in our garden: celery.
Last year, we let a few of our celery plants keep growing past the usual harvest. Instead of cutting the stalks for soups and salads, we waited.
In their second year, they began to flower: delicate clusters reaching toward the sun. Those flowers, though small, carried within them the promise of the next generation.
We let the blossoms dry completely on the stalks, a slow and patient process. When the time was right, we cut them down and carried them gently to a new garden bed. There, with a simple shake of the stems, the tiny seeds scattered- nature’s quiet way of sowing her own future.
And now, to our delight, we’re seeing life sprouting again! The celery seeds collected right here on our land are germinating — tiny green beginnings that carry the story of last year’s patience into this year’s promise.
Every plant has a rhythm, and celery reminds us that some rewards take their time. We are excited to see what new recipes we can create, with all the abundance it is providing.
