A Taste of Summer: Cocozelle Zucchini at the Market

This weekend, we’re bringing something a little special to the market — our Cocozelle Zucchini is finally in bloom.

If you haven’t met this heirloom variety yet, the Cocozelle is known for its rich green skin streaked with pale stripes, tender flesh, and nutty flavor. It’s one of those vegetables that tastes like summer itself — crisp and light when raw, but hearty enough to hold its own when grilled or roasted.

In Italy, where it originates, families often toss it with olive oil, garlic, and fresh herbs, or layer it into pasta dishes. It also shines simply sliced thin, drizzled with lemon, and topped with a pinch of salt, but our favorite is probably spicy zucchini fries.

And if you’d like to taste this zucchini in a fun, new way, here’s a simple recipe that turns it into crisp, flavorful fries — perfect for summer snacking.

We don’t have an endless harvest, so come early if you’d like to bring some home. We’ll have them available this weekend at the market — a little taste of summer waiting for your table.
